Rangpur ( Surendranagar )
🔷 Rangpur is the first discovered place in Gujarat.Rangpur is also the last discovered station as research work is going on till the year 2007-08.Remains of Harappan culture have also been found at Rangpur in Chuda taluka of Surendranagar district of Gujarat.In 1931, Shri. Rangpur was researched by R. Rao and earlier Rangpur was also researched by MS Vatas in 1953-54.No coins or idols were found from Rangpur. But according to the remains found, pottery, tubes, kilns, etc. were found.Most of the remnants of post-independence culture have been found from Rangpur.
Dholavira ( Kutch )
🔷 The town is considered to be a city of Indus civilization as the remains of Harappan culture have been found from Dholavira of Kutch.Remains of the Harappan culture were found in Dholavira in 1967, where systematic excavations began in 1990.
☑️ Dholavira was researched by Jagatpati Joshi and later by RS Bisht.Other towns of Harappan culture were divided into two parts while Dholavira had three main parts.Its area was from east to west and from north to south.The locals used to call Dholavira Kotda.
⭕ As many as ten inscriptions carved in Indus script and gold and silver utensils have also been found.The Harappan found from Dholavira is similar to the towns of civilization but its characters are very large and yet the script has not been solved successfully.The ten letter sign board found in Dholavira is considered to be the oldest sign board in the world.Security-related planning is evident in the three parts found from Dholavira. The three parts are the middle part at the height and the lower part.The highest part was inhabited by the fort and the central part as well as the lower part by the towns.Although Dholavira was located in Kutch, it had special water collection facilities.
